Police Report 15% Rise in Jakarta-Cikampek Eid Exodus Traffic
Jakarta. About 75,000 vehicles passed through the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road on the first day of the 2026 Eid exodus, up 15% from roughly 66,000 vehicles on the same day last year, a senior police official said on Saturday.
Despite the increase, traffic remained smooth, Deputy National Police Chief Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo told reporters at the Km 57 rest area on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
“An evaluation of the first day shows a 15% increase compared with the same day in 2025. Last year, around 66,000 vehicles passed through the toll road heading toward Km 57. This year, the figure has reached 75,000,” Dedi said.
“Based on our monitoring, traffic conditions can generally be described as fairly smooth, even though the increase in volume is already visible,” he added.
Earlier, after conducting an aerial inspection, Dedi said traffic flow leaving Jakarta on the second day of Operation Ketupat 2026 was still running smoothly.
“In general, from the air, I observed that traffic leaving Jakarta was very smooth. Although there has been an increase, it is still within the category of very smooth,” he said at the Command Center at Km 29 in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java.
He added that the broader public security situation remained conducive during the holiday travel period.
“In general, the public security and order situation is very conducive. Although traffic has increased, everything is still under control,” Dedi said.
After the aerial inspection, Dedi reviewed the readiness of the technology infrastructure at the Km 29 Command Center, which is being used to monitor real-time conditions on toll roads.
Monitoring across several toll road sections extending to Cikampek, Cirebon, the Central Java border at Kalikangkung, and the East Java exit at Ngawi showed traffic remained very smooth, he said.
Dedi said traffic on the toll road heading toward Merak was also flowing well. At the Cilegon exit near Merak, authorities had diverted three-axle vehicles off the toll road and onto arterial roads to ease congestion.
Operation Ketupat 2026 is being held for 13 days from March 13 to March 25, involving 161,243 joint personnel.
Police have prepared 2,746 posts, comprising 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts and 343 integrated posts serving as information and service centers for holiday travelers.
Security measures are also focused on 185,607 locations, including mosques, Eid prayer venues, tourist attractions, shopping centers, bus terminals, ports, railway stations and airports.
