Nearly 100,000 Arrivals as Eid Return Traffic Hits Soekarno-Hatta
Jakarta. Passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport remained busy on Wednesday as Indonesia’s Eid return travel gathered pace, with authorities expecting nearly 100,000 arrivals.
State airport operator InJourney said total passenger movements at the airport are projected to reach 180,555 for the day, comprising 80,918 departures and 99,637 arrivals.
The passengers are spread across Terminals 1, 2, and 3, with 1,198 flights, including 36 cargo services.
On-the-ground observations at Terminal 1 showed heavy congestion in arrival areas from morning through midday, with a steady stream of passengers arriving from various regions.
Most travelers were returning from domestic destinations such as Denpasar, Pontianak, Makassar, Ambon, Jambi, Manado, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Palembang and Medan, among others.
Airport authorities estimate the peak of the Eid return flow will occur on March 28.
Cumulatively, from one week before Eid through three days after (March 14–24), the airport handled 1,983,067 passengers and 13,184 aircraft movements. The surge was driven by strong demand on key domestic routes such as Denpasar–Jakarta, Kualanamu–Jakarta, Makassar–Jakarta and Surabaya–Jakarta, while Singapore and Kuala Lumpur remained the top international destinations.
