Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto respects the ongoing police investigation linked to senior anti-corruption prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah and has urged the public to uphold the presumption of innocence while the legal process runs its course, a senior minister said on Friday.

State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the investigation falls entirely within the authority of law enforcement agencies and warned against speculation before the inquiry is completed.

“We all respect every legal process being carried out by law enforcement authorities, in this case the National Police. We also uphold the presumption of innocence so that we avoid speculation and unproductive judgments,” Prasetyo said in a statement.

He said Prabowo has consistently made the fight against corruption one of his administration's top priorities and has repeatedly urged senior government officials to strengthen integrity and improve governance.

“The president views corruption as one of Indonesia's greatest challenges. Whatever difficulties we face, we must continue improving governance, strengthening integrity, and building a clean government,” Prasetyo said.

Police have not named any suspects in the investigation, although officers have seized cash reportedly worth tens of billions of rupiah and 74 kilograms of gold bars during searches at several locations. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the ownership of the seized assets or announced any criminal charges against Febrie.

In a separate statement, Attorney General's Office spokesperson Anang Supriatna also urged the public not to draw conclusions based on media reports or social media speculation.

“We urge the public not to form conclusions or opinions linking any individual or institution to alleged criminal acts solely on the basis of information circulating in the media or on social media,” Anang said.

He said the Attorney General's Office respects the police investigation and believes it is being conducted in accordance with legal procedures and evidentiary standards.

“The Attorney General's Office will await the outcome of the police investigation, including findings related to the searches, evidence collected, and any parties connected to the investigation,” he added.

The investigation stems from a broader corruption probe involving coal supplies to state-owned power plants following widespread power outages earlier this month. Police are also conducting parallel investigations into separate corruption cases involving state insurers Asabri and Jiwasraya, as well as debt restructuring at a subsidiary of Krakatau Steel.

The case has drawn significant public attention because Febrie heads the Attorney General's Office's special crimes unit, which handles many of Indonesia's highest-profile corruption cases, including major illegal mining investigations and the corruption case involving former education minister Nadiem Makarim.
