Jakarta. Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, on Friday confirmed for the first time that a luxury home searched by police in the upscale Sentul area of West Java belongs to him, but declined to answer questions about gold bars and cash seized during the raids.

Febrie has come under intense scrutiny since Jakarta police searched about a dozen locations on July 8, including his residence and a cafe in South Jakarta, where investigators seized about 74 kilograms (163 pounds) of gold bars, $4.7 million, S$14 million ($11 million), and Rp 100 million (about $6,200) in cash.

"The house in Sentul is indeed my private residence, and my family and I have lived there for many years," Febrie told reporters at the Attorney General's Office of Indonesia headquarters in Jakarta.

He said the ownership of the property could be fully traced and documented, but stopped short of explaining the origin of the assets seized during the searches.

"We are confident everything can be properly accounted for, but not in a forum like this. It should be addressed through the appropriate legal process," he said.

Febrie also denied any connection to a cafe in the Cipete area of South Jakarta that was among the properties searched by police.

"I have no connection whatsoever with the business that has been mentioned on social media in relation to Cipete," he said.

He criticized speculation circulating on social media linking him to the cafe and said he would wait for the police investigation to run its course.

"The Attorney General's Office, particularly the special crimes division, will continue to respect every law enforcement process carried out by other agencies in accordance with applicable criminal procedure," he said.

The police investigation is part of a broader corruption probe involving coal supplies to state-owned power plants following widespread power outages earlier this month. Investigators are also pursuing separate corruption cases involving state-owned insurers Asabri and Jiwasraya, as well as debt restructuring at a subsidiary of Krakatau Steel.

The investigation has attracted widespread public attention because Febrie leads the division that prosecutes many of Indonesia's most prominent corruption cases, including major illegal mining investigations and the corruption case involving former education minister Nadiem Makarim.
