Jakarta. Police are investigating the death of a man reportedly serving as a personal aide to former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah, who was detained last week in a high-profile corruption case.

The man, identified as Sutrimo, was found unconscious outside a clinic in South Jakarta on Thursday and was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Jakarta Police spokesman Budhi Hermanto said on Sunday.

Budhi said investigators had begun interviewing witnesses, including Sutrimo's family members, the ambulance driver, hospital personnel and others who may have information about the incident.

Police are also reviewing the victim's medical records, ambulance dispatch records and the location where he was initially found.

"The investigation is being conducted professionally, carefully and in accordance with applicable procedures to establish all the facts. Because it is still ongoing, we cannot yet determine the cause of death," Budhi said.

He urged the public not to speculate or circulate unverified information while the investigation is underway.

Two days earlier, the Attorney General's Office detained Febrie after taking over a corruption investigation from the police. The case centers on the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold bullion and millions of dollars in cash concealed in a hidden cabinet at one of his homes in Bogor.

Febrie and a businessman were named as corruption suspects before police transferred the investigation to the Attorney General's Office.

The case has attracted nationwide attention because Febrie previously served as Indonesia's top corruption prosecutor and oversaw several high-profile investigations involving senior public officials.
