Jakarta. Senior prosecutor Febrie Adriansyah was detained by the Attorney General's Office on Friday night after being questioned as a corruption suspect, marking a major development in one of the country's highest-profile graft investigations.

Febrie was escorted into a detention vehicle waiting outside the Attorney General's Office after the questioning.

"At 7 p.m., investigators informed us that Mr. Febrie Adriansyah had been formally designated as a suspect and handed us two documents: the suspect designation and the detention order," his lawyer, Febri Diansyah, told reporters at the Attorney General's Office.

Febri Diansyah joined Febrie Adriansyah's legal team after prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea withdrew from the case last week, citing health reasons.

Investigators accuse Febrie in connection with a corruption case after police discovered 74 kilograms of gold bullion and millions of dollars in cash concealed in a hidden cabinet at one of his homes in Bogor during coordinated searches linked to several major corruption investigations.

While acknowledging ownership of the property, Febrie has denied owning the gold and cash and rejected the corruption allegations against him. He resigned as deputy attorney general for special crimes after being implicated in the graft case.
