Jakarta. State-owned enterprises (SOEs) have mobilized under the BUMN Peduli “One Heart for Sumatra” program to deliver emergency aid to communities affected by disasters across Sumatra, with Bank Negara Indonesia among the companies leading the response.

Since the early phase of emergency response, BNI, alongside other SOEs, has been directly involved in supporting basic necessities for affected communities, ranging from food and medical logistics to facilities supporting disaster response posts. All assistance has been distributed in coordination with local disaster mitigation agencies (BPBD) and regional governments to ensure effective and well-targeted delivery.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the presence of SOEs during disasters is reflected through concrete action and cross-sector collaboration. “The SOE family comes together with a shared spirit, moving swiftly and working collectively so that aid is truly felt by affected communities. Our focus is on ensuring urgent needs on the ground are met effectively,” Okki said.

To date, BNI has delivered emergency assistance to three main regions in Sumatra: North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh.

In North Sumatra, aid has been distributed to Medan, Sibolga, Gunung Sitoli, and Padang Sidempuan. Assistance included emergency food supplies such as 52.5 tons of rice, 9.5 tons of sugar, 10,500 liters of cooking oil, and ready-to-eat meals. BNI also provided logistical support including blankets, medicines, and internet network access to help coordinate disaster response efforts.

In West Sumatra, BNI delivered aid to affected areas including Padang City, Padang Pariaman, Pesisir Selatan, Pasaman, Bukittinggi, Padang Panjang, and Balingka. Assistance comprised 25 tons of rice, 10 tons of sugar, 10,000 liters of cooking oil, instant noodles, canned milk, coffee, and tea, as well as medical supplies, hygiene kits, and equipment for public kitchens and evacuation shelters.

Meanwhile in Aceh, BNI established aid posts in North Aceh and Southeast Aceh to serve as coordination and distribution centers for relief efforts. Through these posts, BNI delivered emergency assistance focused on providing four clean-water storage units, health services and trauma-healing support, cooking equipment, 30 emergency tents, and educational supplies in the form of 1,200 school uniforms for elementary, junior high, and senior high school students affected by the disaster.

Okki said the distribution of aid is being carried out in stages and continually adjusted to evolving conditions on the ground. “Aid distribution is conducted through close coordination with BPBD and local governments to ensure it truly addresses community needs and delivers immediate impact,” he said.

Through the BUMN Peduli “One Heart for Sumatra” initiative, BNI reaffirmed its commitment to stand with communities not only during the emergency response phase, but also throughout the long-term recovery process.

BNI and the SOE family will continue to monitor conditions on the ground and adjust the support provided as needed, underscoring the role of state-owned enterprises in serving and protecting the public.
