BNI Dispatches Badminton Squad for Thomas, Uber Cup
Jakarta. Bank Negara Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesian badminton by sending the national team to compete in the 2026 Thomas Cup and Uber Cup, set to take place in Denmark from April 24 to May 3.
A send-off ceremony was held on Wednesday at the national badminton training center in Cipayung, East Jakarta, attended by Fadil Imran, chairman of the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), along with representatives of PBSI’s partners, including BNI, which has long supported the development of national badminton.
A total of 20 top Indonesian athletes will represent the country at the tournament.
In the Thomas Cup, Indonesia will rely on leading players such as Jonatan Christie and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, alongside men’s doubles pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
For the Uber Cup, players including Putri Kusuma Wardani and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti are expected to anchor the squad.
BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the bank’s support goes beyond sponsorship, forming part of a long-term commitment to building a sustainable sports ecosystem.
“BNI believes that sporting achievements reflect a nation’s competitiveness. We are not only present during major competitions, but consistently support athlete development from grassroots to elite levels,” Okki said.
Over more than five years as a strategic partner of PBSI, BNI has played an active role in supporting training programs, international tournament participation, and the development of young athletes across the country.
Okki added that the involvement represents a tangible contribution to nurturing high-quality human capital capable of competing globally.
“Participation in the Thomas and Uber Cup 2026 is not just about pursuing titles, but also about continuing the nation’s legacy of achievement. BNI will stand alongside our athletes every step of the way toward the world podium,” he said.
With sustained support from stakeholders, including the banking sector, Indonesia’s badminton team is expected to deliver strong performances and add to its record of international success.
