BNI, Govt Promote Affordable Housing Financing in Manado
Jakarta. State-owned bank BNI in partnership with the government are promoting affordable housing in North Sulawesi's Manado.
It reflects a synergy between the central government, local governments, financial institutions, and the banking sector to expand access to housing financing for low-income communities while simultaneously spurring the regional economy.
As many as 600 participants attended the housing event that took place last week. They included 300 PNM participants and 200 other individuals joining the microloan program KUR. Some 100 others are part of the home renovation program BSPS.
The attendees encompassed Indonesia's micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), housing developers, building supply chain partners, and potential beneficiaries. Housing Task Force chief Hashim Djojohadikusumo and North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus attended the event.
"The housing sector boasts a significant multiplier effect, not only improving people's quality of life but also driving regional economic growth via job creation and strengthening supporting sectors," BNI Consumer Banking Director Corina Leyla Karnalies said.
It opens up doors for low-income families to tap affordable financing for their homes. It will also become a boon for the supply chain in the construction sector and small-sized businesses in the regions.
As one of the main distributing banks, BNI seeks to improve the product understanding within its branch network, expanding cooperation with local governments and developers, and actively collaborating with the Housing Ministry. The wondr by BNI app also makes it easier for customers to make installment payments, make transactions, and monitor their financial condition safely and quickly.
"We continue to provide integrated services so that the public can access housing financing easily, safely, and sustainably," Corina said.
