BNI Launches 'Wondr Earth' Feature to Help Users Track Carbon and Plant Trees
Jakarta. Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) has introduced a new feature, “wondr earth,” on its wondr by BNI mobile application, enabling customers to measure their carbon footprint and participate in tree-planting initiatives as part of efforts to promote sustainable lifestyles.
Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said the innovation reflects the bank’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its digital services and encouraging greater public awareness of environmental issues.
“Through the wondr earth feature, BNI invites customers to contribute directly to environmental preservation. Users can not only calculate their carbon footprint, but also plant trees and monitor their contributions transparently, from location to growth progress,” Okki said in a statement.
The feature includes a carbon calculator that estimates emissions generated from daily activities. Based on the results, the system recommends the number of trees required to offset the calculated carbon footprint.
To participate, users can access the Lifestyle menu within the wondr by BNI application, complete the carbon calculation process, and select preferred tree-planting locations. Transactions for purchasing tree seedlings can then be completed following data verification and payment confirmation.
Once completed, users can track their contributions through the “Your Contribution” feature, which provides transparent updates, including planting locations and the growth progress of the trees.
BNI said the initiative represents a concrete step toward integrating digital banking services with environmental conservation, while also fostering greater customer awareness of carbon management.
“Through this innovation, we hope more customers will take part in tangible environmental actions and support sustainable carbon reduction efforts,” Okki said.
The wondr earth initiative reinforces BNI’s position in advancing sustainable finance, offering banking services that extend beyond transactions to deliver positive environmental impact.
