BNI Vows Stronger Anti-Corruption Commitment
Jakarta. State-owned bank BNI reaffirmed its commitment to anti-graft as the company took part in the International Anti-Corruption Day commemoration.
The anti-graft commision KPK recently held the Anti-Corruption Day, locally known as Hakordia, event in Yogyakarta. BNI President Director Putrama Wahju Setyawan said that Hakordia became an important reminder for everyone to strengthen integrity and transparency.
"Hakordia is not just a commemoration, but an effort to unite the view that corruption is a common enemy in order to realize a nation that is advanced, just, and has integrity," Putrama said.
According to Putrama, maintaining integrity is key to maintain public trust in the national banking industry.
"Let's protect ourselves, remind our colleagues, and uphold BNI's good name by always prioritizing integrity in what we do," he said.
To this end, BNI is ramping up the implementation of anti-gratification and anti-fraud policies. It is also bolstering its whistleblowing system to improve internal oversight.
"These policies are expected to minimize the risk of abuse of authority and build a strong culture of control across all operational lines," Putrama said.
The bank also aligned its anti-corruption materials with those of the KPK. It also plans to continue to increase employees' literacy on internal control, while also strengthening the principle of segregation of duties across all work units.
BNI offices across Indonesia are also taking part in integrity campaigns as part of their commitment to build an anti-corruption work environment. BNI also vowed to continue to improve its governance, service quality, and maintain public trust as it seeks to be the leading national bank that is globally competitive.
