Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Thursday named one of its employees as a suspect in an alleged extortion scheme after he was accused of leaking confidential information from an internal corruption investigation involving Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro.

The employee, Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, who worked in an administrative role at the agency, is suspected of passing confidential information to his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, who allegedly used it to extort the regent.

"He had access to administrative processes within the KPK, and the information was then passed on to his father," KPK Director of Investigation Achmad Taufik told a press conference in Jakarta.

According to Taufik, Lilik used the information to convince Anom that he could influence the handling of the corruption case. Through a trusted associate, Mohamad Haris, the regent allegedly paid Rp 1.2 billion (about $66,000) to Lilik to secure favorable treatment in the KPK investigation.

"The regent believed Lilik because his son worked at the KPK. He also showed administrative documents related to the handling of the Pemalang case," Taufik said.

The KPK has arrested and detained all four individuals mentioned in the case as suspects.

Investigators also seized Rp 2.7 billion (about $149,000) in cash from the suspects as evidence.
