Seraf Siregar Misses Wushu Gold by 0.003 Points, Takes Bronze for Indonesia
Aichi. Indonesian wushu athlete Seraf Naro Siregar won the country's first medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Sunday, taking bronze in the men's changquan event at the Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall.
Seraf finished third among 21 competitors with a total score of 9.720 points.
Competing first in the final, Seraf delivered a clean routine that immediately set a high benchmark for the rest of the field.
He received 5.00 points for quality of movement, 2.720 for overall performance and 2.00 for degree of difficulty, giving him a total of 9.720.
The score kept Seraf at the top of the standings through the performances of the next six competitors before two athletes from Macau moved ahead of him.
Kuong Chi Hin won the gold medal with 9.723 points, just 0.003 ahead of Seraf, while fellow Macau athlete Song Chi Kuan took silver with 9.720 -- the same total score as the Indonesian.
The bronze gave Indonesia its first medal of the Games, which officially opened Saturday and run through Oct. 4.
For Seraf, the medal represented another milestone in a career already marked by success at major international multisport events.
“This means everything to me because we know the Asian Games is no ordinary competition for an athlete,” Seraf said.
“Many athletes dream simply of competing at an event like this, let alone winning a medal.”
Seraf said the achievement carried particular significance because of the years he had devoted to preparing for major competitions.
“This medal may represent the culmination of my entire career. I have dedicated my life to competing at the biggest events,” he said.
Sunday's bronze added to Seraf's international medal collection.
He also won bronze at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games in the men's combined daoshu and gunshu event.
At the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, Seraf took silver in the men's combined changquan, daoshu, and gunshu event.
