Jakarta. Indonesia’s Eugenia Diva Widodo claimed her first Asian Games medal after finishing third in the women’s changquan event at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Monday.

Eugenia scored 9.706 points at Aichi Prefectural Martial Arts Hall, earning the bronze medal behind Hong Kong’s Sham Hyl, who took gold with 9.713 points, and Macau’s Sou Cho Man, who secured silver with 9.710 points.

The result marked a milestone for Eugenia, who finished sixth in the same event at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

“I’m really satisfied with today’s performance because I managed to deliver what I’ve been training for,” Eugenia said after the competition.

Competing as the fourth athlete, Eugenia initially took the lead in the provisional standings. Sou later surpassed her with 9.710 points, before Sham secured the top spot with the final performance.

Eugenia said the competition was particularly challenging, with only a narrow margin separating the medalists.

“The competition was really tight, with very close scores, and everyone competing here is also a world champion,” she said.

Her bronze medal also met the target she had set before the competition.

“I hope this will be the first step toward contributing more to Indonesia,” she said.

Indonesia’s other representative, Andrea Simon, finished 12th with 9.603 points. Her score comprised 4.90 for movement quality, 2.703 for overall performance and 2.00 for difficulty.

Eugenia’s bronze added to Indonesia’s wushu medal tally after Seraf Naro Siregar also finished third in the men’s changquan event a day earlier.

Seraf secured Indonesia’s first medal at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games.
