Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office has questioned Astera Primanto Bhakti, Director General of Treasury at the Finance Ministry, as part of the investigation into alleged tax corruption covering the period 2016–2020.

AGO spokesperson Anang Supriatna said Astera was summoned as a witness due to his role as special adviser to the finance minister for state revenue from 2015 to 2017.

“He was questioned last week,” Anang told reporters on Tuesday.

As part of the investigation, prosecutors previously seized one Toyota Alphard and a luxury motorcycle believed to be linked to the case, although the ownership of the vehicles has not been disclosed. Several locations have also been searched.

So far, around 40 witnesses have been examined, including Finance Ministry personnel — particularly from the Tax Directorate — and businesspeople in connection with alleged arrangements in which tax officials reduced corporate tax liabilities in exchange for payments.

According to the AGO, the alleged scheme occurred between 2016 and 2020, though no estimate of state financial losses has been released.

Prosecutors have also issued overseas travel bans against former Director General of Taxes Ken Dwijugiasteadi and several other tax officials as the probe continues to expand.
