Jakarta. The Jakarta provincial government will charge a symbolic fare of Rp 80 (less than one US cent) across its public transport network on Oct. 5, in celebration of the Indonesian Military’s (TNI) 80th anniversary.

Governor Pramono Anung announced the policy on Wednesday after leading the Pancasila Sanctity Day ceremony at City Hall. The fare will apply to all city-run transport modes, including Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta, for one full day.

“This is our way of showing appreciation to TNI, which has safeguarded the nation throughout history. The Rp 80 fare is both a tribute and a gesture to ease the burden on the public,” Pramono said.

The governor expressed hope that the initiative would strengthen ties between Jakarta residents and the military, while honoring TNI’s role in defending national sovereignty.
