Pegadaian Honored by Bank Indonesia for Remote Currency Access
Jakarta. Pegadaian received the prestigious Bank Indonesia Service Partnership Synergy Award for its strategic role in supporting the distribution of fit-for-circulation currency to remote regions.
The award was presented directly by Budi Sudaryono, Director of the Currency Management Department at Bank Indonesia, to Selfie Dewiyanti, Director of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development at PT Pegadaian, during the 2025 Festival Rupiah Berdaulat Indonesia (FERBI) held at Istora Senayan Jakarta on Saturday, August 16.
This award recognizes Pegadaian’s success in a pilot collaboration project in South Kalimantan. Through this synergy, Pegadaian leveraged its extensive network to ensure the adequate availability of rupiah in remote areas.
Budi Sudaryono of Bank Indonesia emphasized the importance of this partnership. According to him, Bank Indonesia cannot work alone in circulating money.
“We need strategic partners like Pegadaian to ensure that proper currency reaches communities in remote regions,” he said.
He also expressed hope that the success of the pilot project in South Kalimantan could serve as a starting point for expanding the program across Indonesia.
Welcoming the award, Selfie Dewiyanti expressed her gratitude for the trust given by Bank Indonesia. “This award is a form of trust in our service network, which spans more than 4,000 outlets across Indonesia, including in 3T regions (frontier, underdeveloped, and outermost),” Selfie said.
She added that the synergy is not only about currency distribution but also opens opportunities for financial education for the public. “We are fully committed to supporting Bank Indonesia so that people can easily access proper currency. At the same time, we can also introduce the benefits of Pegadaian’s products and services, helping more communities become financially literate,” she concluded.
The Festival Rupiah Berdaulat Indonesia (FERBI) 2025, carrying the theme “Strong Synergy to Safeguard a Sovereign Rupiah”, was held from August 15–17. In addition to the awarding ceremony, the event also featured exhibitions, talk shows, and currency exchange services for the public.
