Pegadaian Sends Top Employees to Study Abroad
Jakarta. State-owned pawnbroker Pegadaian has sent some of its top employees to pursue master's degrees abroad.
The company recently held a send-off ceremony for the sixth batch of its internal scholarship awardees. Pegadaian human capital director Tribuana Tunggadewi said that the program marked a strategic step for the company in developing future leaders.
Academic experience in the international arena is expected to broaden perspectives, enrich knowledge, and stimulate robust innovation to support Pegadaian's increasingly dynamic and complex business transformation in the future.
"The Pegadaian Global Education & Mastery Scholarship demonstrates the company's commitment to developing future leaders with a global perspective, innovation, and adaptability to change," Dewi was quoted as saying in a press statement.
The sixth batch of employees' studies aligns with the company's business development needs, ranging from financial law and information technology to artificial intelligence (AI) and environmental management.
They will also go to Imperial College London, the University of Edinburgh, the Australian National University, and the University of Melbourne.
All awardees underwent a rigorous, transparent, and comprehensive selection process lasting nearly a year, from April 2025 to March 2026.
The selection process included administrative and performance record reviews, internationally standardized foreign-language proficiency tests, ethics tests and self-assessments, in-depth interviews with Pegadaian's board of directors, and official acceptance from their respective foreign universities.
This extensive screening process was implemented to ensure that selected candidates not only excel academically but also possess high integrity and the mental readiness to positively represent the company in the international academic environment.
The participants' departure to their respective study destination countries will be carried out in stages from July to September 2026, in accordance with the academic calendars applicable at the respective universities.
