Jakarta. The Praya branch of the state-owned pawnbroker Pegadaian had recently distributed building materials to support the construction of new classrooms at the Insan Tangkas Foundation in Central Lombok.

This campaign is part of Pegadaian's corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.

The branch manager Gunaji Agus Wibowo had handed over the assistance not long ago. The foundation, teachers, and parents expressed hopes that the new classrooms could enable a more comfortable learning environment.

"Pegadaian is not only oriented towards business services, but also has a social responsibility to contribute to improving the people's lives. We hope this assistance can accelerate the construction of classrooms so that children can learn with better facilities," Gunaji was quoted as saying in a press statement.

Pegadaian sees education as a long-term investment that will nurture a quality and competitive next generation.

Pegadaian also taught the parents about the importance of instilling financial literacy and investment from an early age. The company also promoted its leading products, including gold savings, gold installments, as well as "Arisan Emas". They actively discussed the benefits of investing in gold as a relatively stable instrument for preparing for various future needs, from children's education costs to other needs.

According to Gunaji, improving financial literacy is an important part of Pegadaian Praya's efforts to encourage the public to be wiser in managing their finances, especially in Central Lombok.

"We want the public to understand that investing doesn't require having deep pockets. With Pegadaian products, people can start investing in gold gradually, according to their abilities, thereby helping realize various financial plans in the future," he explained.

Edy Purwanto, the regional head for Pegadaian Regional Office VII Denpasar, said that the CSR reflected the company's commitment to providing sustainable benefits to the community, particularly in the education sector.

"Education is the best investment for the nation's future. Pegadaian wants to ensure that the company's presence is felt not only through financial services, but also through real contributions to improving the quality of education and community welfare," Edy said.

"Through Pegadaian products, we want to call on the public to more easily access safe, inclusive financial services that can help achieve various financial goals, including their kids' education."
