Jakarta Governor Explores Cooperation with Buenos Aires
New York. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung is exploring opportunities for cooperation with Buenos Aires across various sectors, including sports, culture, social integration and housing, as well as financial investment.
On Wednesday, Pramono met with Buenos Aires Deputy Mayor Maria Clara Muzzio on the sidelines of the 8th Local and Regional Governments Forum at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
According to Pramono, the meeting was not the starting point but rather a follow-up to a Letter of Intent signed by officials from both cities in Buenos Aires in October 2018.
That agreement laid the foundation for intercity cooperation focused on strengthening local capacities and sharing experiences in various sectors.
“Jakarta and Buenos Aires are both global cities actively involved in multilateral cooperation, particularly through the C40 Cities network,” Pramono said from New York. C40 Cities is a global network of cities committed to climate action.
In addition, both Jakarta and Buenos Aires are active participants in the Urban 20 (U20) forum, which brings together mayors from G20 member countries.
