Chandra Asri, TNI AD Build Clean Water Facility in Bengkulu
Jakarta. Access to clean water is essential to improving living standards and supporting community productivity. As part of its commitment to making a positive contribution to society, Chandra Asri Pacific (Chandra Asri Group), a leading chemical, energy, infrastructure and mobility solutions company in Southeast Asia, has partnered with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) to provide clean water facilities in Bengkulu.
The initiative involves the construction of a drilled well equipped with a water tower and a 5,000-liter storage tank. It is being carried out under the Indonesian Army's 2026 Large-Scale Community Service Program (Karya Bhakti Skala Besar/KBSB).
The facility is expected to improve local residents' access to water for daily needs while supporting productive activities, including agriculture, livestock farming and inland fisheries.
The construction is part of a joint effort to address basic infrastructure needs, particularly in areas where access to clean water remains limited. By providing a more accessible and adequate water source, the initiative is expected to ease residents' daily activities and support the development of local economic activities.
Brig. Gen. Bram Pramudia, commander of the KBSB task force in Bengkulu, said the 2026 program aims to deliver development projects that directly address community needs, including access to clean water.
"The Indonesian Army (TNI AD)'s 2026 Large-Scale Community Service Program is an effort to bring development closer to people's needs, including the provision of clean water access. Bengkulu Province has been designated as a pilot project for the program, targeting the construction and rehabilitation of 614 physical infrastructure sites," he said.
He added that implementation in Bengkulu would serve as an initial step toward expanding the program's benefits to more communities across Indonesia.
"We appreciate Chandra Asri Group's support in providing the drilled well and its supporting infrastructure. This synergy demonstrates meaningful collaboration between the Indonesian Army and the private sector in supporting more equitable development and improving people's quality of life," Bram said.
Edi Rivai, Chandra Asri Group's director of legal, external relations and circular economy, said access to clean water was a fundamental need that played an important role in improving community welfare.
"We believe access to clean water is a basic necessity that plays an important role in improving people's quality of life and well-being. Through our support for the construction of this drilled well facility, we hope to help address the needs of communities in Bengkulu while supporting productive activities and economic development in the surrounding areas," he said.
Edi added that the initiative aligned with the national development agenda, which prioritizes meeting people's basic needs. He described the partnership with the Indonesian Army as a positive example of collaboration between the business sector and state institutions to deliver practical solutions to community needs.
"We believe partnerships like this can create broader and more sustainable benefits. As Indonesia's Growth Partner, we remain committed to making meaningful contributions that address community needs and supporting inclusive development. We also extend our appreciation to TNI AD for the collaboration and synergy that have made this initiative possible and enabled it to benefit communities in need," Edi said.
As Indonesia's Growth Partner, Chandra Asri Group continues to strengthen its role not only through business development and investment but also through social initiatives that create positive impacts for communities. Through cross-sector collaboration and community empowerment programs, the company remains committed to improving living standards, strengthening community resilience and promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
