Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific (Chandra Asri Group) is strengthening its shared services capabilities to support its expanding business operations, with a focus on technology, process standardization and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve efficiency and create greater business value.

The shift from administrative support to a strategic business partner was among the key topics discussed at the exclusive seminar “Launchpad To Success,” organized by Chandra Asri Pacific under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities in a Changing Business Landscape.”

During the session, Mark Teoh, Deloitte Southeast Asia Human Capital Portfolio Leader, discussed the evolution of shared services and how organizations can leverage technology and internal capabilities to enhance the value delivered to their businesses.

“Shared services are no longer solely about how work can be performed more efficiently. Their role is evolving into a platform for building organizational capabilities, leveraging technology, and creating greater value for the business,” Teoh said.

According to Deloitte, the transformation of shared services is reflected in how organizations develop internal capabilities, integrate AI into service delivery and adopt performance measurement based on business outcomes.

In a Deloitte survey of more than 500 global business and technology executives, 70% of organizations reported bringing previously outsourced work back in-house over the past five years to strengthen internal capabilities, improve service quality and enhance control. Meanwhile, 92% of respondents plan to integrate AI into service delivery, while the adoption of outcome-based models has increased to 67%.

The shift is increasingly relevant for Chandra Asri Group as it expands its portfolio across the energy and chemicals, integrated infrastructure, and mobility solutions sectors, while broadening its regional presence. This growth requires an operational foundation that can keep pace with the scale and complexity of its businesses, supported by integrated processes, consistent standards and scalable capabilities.

As the entity overseeing the Group’s support functions, Chandra Asri Sentral Solusi (CASS) serves as a platform for integrating and consolidating processes across the Group.

CASS currently provides services across Finance, Human Resources, Procurement and Customer Operations, supporting a broad range of operational needs, from transaction processing and financial reporting to human resources operations, procurement of goods and services, and customer-related processes.

CASS President Director Lenny Woen said the company was established to help Chandra Asri Group navigate the growing scale and complexity of its business.

“CASS was established to support Chandra Asri Group in navigating the growing scale and complexity of its business. Our role is not only to ensure that processes run efficiently and consistently, but also to build capabilities that enable the business to move faster, leverage technology, and focus on value creation. Therefore, we will continue to strengthen CASS, evolving from a service provider into a strategic business partner,” Woen said.

CASS’s transformation focuses on three key areas: process standardization; the adoption of technology, automation and analytics; and the development of AI capabilities.

The company continues to advance automation and analytics to improve efficiency and service quality, while expanding the use of AI to support faster, more integrated and data-driven ways of working.

This approach also enables CASS to develop capabilities that can be leveraged more broadly across the Group. Through process standardization and technology, services can be scaled as the number of business entities and operational needs grows, without requiring each entity to independently build the same capabilities.

In line with Chandra Asri Group’s regional expansion, CASS has also begun extending its support beyond Indonesia. It currently supports Aster in Singapore, broadening the Group’s shared services coverage while building experience in supporting businesses with different operational needs and characteristics.

Looking ahead, CASS plans to expand its service scope and capabilities, including the integration of the Information Technology (IT) function in 2027. The development is expected to further strengthen connectivity among the Group’s business, technology, data and human resources functions.

“Chandra Asri Group’s growth requires an organization that is not only larger, but also increasingly integrated and agile. CASS will continue to build capabilities that enable the Group to benefit from scale, standardization, and technology, while providing each business with the flexibility to grow according to its respective needs,” Woen said.

Through this transformation, CASS aims to become a trusted strategic partner for Chandra Asri Group, providing integrated, standardized and scalable services while supporting business growth, operational excellence and the Group’s regional expansion.
