CSI Advances Offshore Services With Elara Dalimbar 1, Supporting Indonesia’s Maritime Sector
Jakarta. Chandra Daya Investasi (CDI) is broadening its maritime service offerings through the deployment of Elara Dalimbar 1, a specialized vessel designed to handle technically demanding offshore operations in Indonesia’s energy and infrastructure sectors.
The Multi-Purpose Support Vessel (MPSV) is operated by ELPI Trans Cargo (ETC), a subsidiary of Chandra Shipping International (CSI), which is also part of CDI. Its addition marks an expansion of CSI’s capabilities beyond its existing maritime logistics services into more specialized offshore support operations.
Elara Dalimbar 1 is the first Indonesian-flagged MPSV equipped with Dynamic Positioning (DP) Class III technology, allowing it to maintain a precise position and heading without conventional anchoring. The system is designed to operate reliably in challenging offshore conditions, including strong winds, waves and currents.
The vessel can support a range of activities, from subsea operations and Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) support to emergency standby response and offshore lifting. Its equipment includes a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), diving support facilities and two cranes capable of lifting up to 150 tonnes and 40 tonnes, respectively.
These features enable CSI to handle offshore assignments that require specialized equipment, precise positioning and stringent operational safety standards.
CSI President Director Lingga Widastri said the vessel would allow the company to pursue projects with more demanding technical specifications while broadening its market opportunities.
“The operation of Elara Dalimbar 1 strengthens our capacity to serve offshore projects with more complex technical requirements, while creating opportunities for us to participate in projects that support energy industry operations and maritime infrastructure development in Indonesia,” Lingga said.
She added that the investment was intended to support CSI’s long-term business development rather than simply increase its fleet size.
“We view this development not merely as an addition to our fleet, but as part of our long-term efforts to enhance CSI’s competitiveness, strengthen the role of Indonesian-flagged maritime service providers, and pursue business growth in a focused manner in line with market needs,” she said.
Lingga said the vessel’s positioning technology and specialized facilities would also give the company greater flexibility in serving different types of offshore projects.
“Supported by its DP Class III capabilities and a range of operational facilities, Elara Dalimbar 1 provides CSI with the flexibility to support various offshore operations with more complex technical requirements, while expanding the scope of maritime services we can offer,” she said. “The vessel’s addition also forms part of CSI’s portfolio development strategy to strengthen competitiveness, explore a broader range of business opportunities, and enhance our contribution to meeting the needs of Indonesia’s energy and maritime infrastructure industries.”
CSI currently operates a fleet of 15 vessels. The addition of Elara Dalimbar 1 expands its coverage into offshore support, complementing its existing maritime logistics business and positioning the company to serve a broader range of operational requirements.
Through this expansion, CSI aims to develop its services in line with industry demand while reinforcing its role in supporting Indonesia’s energy and maritime infrastructure sectors.
