Chandra Asri Group’s Inclusive Support for Empowering MSMEs and People with Disabilities
Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group), a leading company in the chemical, energy, and infrastructure sectors, has demonstrated its commitment to supporting the independence of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), including those owned by persons with disabilities. This commitment was realized through the signing of a partnership agreement at the MSME Competency Development Forum, an event organized by the Investment and Downstreaming Ministry / Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) on Thursday, August 21.
The partnership agreement signed by Chandra Asri Group was witnessed directly by the Investment and Downstreaming Minister, Rosan Roeslani. The collaboration specifically involves two disability-owned MSMEs from Cilegon and Bogor. These two MSMEs, which are engaged in the food and handicraft sectors, are also supported by the Rehabilitation Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.
This collaboration is expected to enhance the production capacity and competencies of the two MSMEs, while also facilitating inclusive investment. The aim is to create a positive and sustainable economic impact for MSME actors.
Edi Rivai, Director of Legal, External Relations, and Circular Economy of Chandra Asri Group, explained that MSMEs are the backbone of Indonesia’s economy, contributing significantly to job creation and driving national growth.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM for connecting us with disability-owned MSMEs whose products are of excellent quality. Chandra Asri Group is committed to promoting economic inclusion and sustainability, with the hope of strengthening MSME competitiveness while creating added value for society at large,” said Edi.
The forum highlighted the vital role of MSMEs, which contribute around 61% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and involve approximately 65 million business actors across Indonesia. Nevertheless, MSMEs still face various challenges, such as limited access to capital, technology, human resource development, and digitalization.
Therefore, collaboration between large enterprises and MSMEs, as carried out by Chandra Asri Group, represents a concrete step to strengthen MSME competitiveness and support their growth.
Expanding the Commitment to Economic Empowerment
The partnership with disability-owned MSMEs is also aligned with Chandra Asri Group’s previous PROPER achievements in the field of economic empowerment and community development.
Chandra Asri Group has consistently implemented MSME empowerment programs based on local potential. With this expanded commitment, the company is now not only supporting MSMEs in general but also ensuring more inclusive growth by involving persons with disabilities.
