Jakarta. Energy, chemical, and infrastructure solutions provider PT Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) recently announced a significant increase in its Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) ratings from two international institutions, Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) and Morningstar Sustainalytics.

This achievement reflects the company’s commitment to implementing ESG standards and recognition for its performance reporting, dedication, and sustainability strategies.

Chandra Asri Group has received an improved MSCI ESG score, strengthening the company's position at a BBB rating. The ESG Risk Rating from Morningstar Sustainalytics has also shown improvement, with a decrease in risk from 16.6 to 16.3. The lower the score, the better ESG performance. This result maintains Chandra Asri Group's position in the globally recognized Top Rated ESG category within the chemical commodities industry.

"We are proud to maintain and enhance our sustainability performance, as evidenced by the improved ESG Ratings from both MSCI and Sustainalytics," said Andang Pungkase, Head of ESG & Sustainability at Chandra Asri Group.

Andang attributed the improvements to Chandra Asri Group's ongoing efforts to proactively manage environmental and social impacts while implementing transparent and accountable governance.

"Through this achievement, we also see greater opportunities to access various sustainable financing options, including Sustainability-Linked Loans (SLL), and to expand our contributions to the circular economy agenda and achieve national climate targets," he said.

MSCI is a leading global ESG rating agency recognized by investment institutions worldwide. The MSCI ESG rating measures the management of ESG risks and opportunities of thousands of companies across various industries globally.

Morningstar Sustainalytics is a leading ESG rating agency known for providing innovative solutions that enable top global investors to identify, understand, and manage ESG-driven risks and opportunities.

"Going forward, we will continue to seek opportunities to innovate in the use of more efficient energy, promote circular economy practices to enhance resource management and waste management and strengthen sustainable supply chains. We are also committed to employee development, community engagement, and maintaining the highest compliance standards across all operational aspects of the company," he said.

In addition to these ESG achievements, Chandra Asri Group has maintained the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) for the second consecutive year. This certification recognizes the company’s facilities that have met global standards for producing environmentally friendly products from bio-feedstock, including Bio-Propylene, Bio-Ethylene, Bio-Crude C4, and Bio-Pygas. The ISCC certification opens doors for Chandra Asri Group in its transition toward utilizing more sustainable alternative raw materials.
