Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific (Chandra Asri Group) has stepped up monitoring and emergency preparedness at its Cilegon operations in Banten amid ongoing developments in Mount Anak Krakatau’s volcanic activity.

The company said its production, facility and infrastructure management, logistics, and distribution operations remain safe and running as normal, with safety continuing to be a key priority.

As part of its precautionary measures, Chandra Asri Group is closely following developments at Mount Anak Krakatau while coordinating with stakeholders at the regional and national levels. The company has also joined coordination meetings with the Cilegon City Government to review the latest conditions and discuss the necessary response measures.

The company’s monitoring efforts include following information and guidance issued by relevant authorities. It also reviews daily updates from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) on volcanic activity, potential volcanic ash dispersion, and sea levels around its jetty.

Chandra Asri Group Director of Human Resources & Corporate Affairs Suryandi said the company’s preparedness efforts were focused on protecting both employees and communities around its facilities.

“The safety of our employees and communities around our operational areas is our top priority. In line with the developments in Mount Anak Krakatau activity, we continue to strengthen our monitoring and preparedness measures in the field. To date, our operations continue to run safely, supported by various preventive measures and emergency response procedures that have been put in place,” Suryandi said.

The company has also reviewed its emergency response equipment to ensure it remains adequate and ready for use. Preparedness simulations are conducted for various possible scenarios, including procedures for rapidly shutting down facilities if required.

At its operational sites, Chandra Asri Group has intensified checks and field patrols to monitor dust and volcanic ash. Employees have also been reminded of the potential risks of volcanic ash exposure and advised to use masks according to conditions in the field.

The company has further reinforced emergency procedures among relevant field teams so personnel are familiar with the actions required should an emergency occur.

To maintain operational readiness, Chandra Asri Group is also carrying out regular filter cleaning and ensuring sufficient stocks of filters and other critical spare parts are available.

The company said it would continue coordinating with relevant parties and closely following updates and directions from authorities. Its preparedness measures will be adjusted as conditions develop, while the safety of employees and surrounding communities and the continuity of operations remain its priorities.
