BPJS Kesehatan to Host Global Forum on ICT Use in Social Security
Jakarta. BPJS Kesehatan, Indonesia’s social security agency on health, will soon host a global forum on technology advancement in social security.
The 17th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology in Social Security will take place in Bali on March 5-8. As host, BPJS Kesehatan will partner with the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
“We will showcase the National Health Insurance or JKN’s digital ecosystem as one of the best practices that we can share with our partners across the globe,” Mundhiharno, the director for compliance and inter-institutional relations at BPJS Kesehatan, was quoted as saying in a recent press statement.
BPJS Kesehatan is one of the technical commission chairs. According to the press release, ISSA’s technical commission on health includes Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, France, Gabon, Georgia, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Korea, Peru, Russia, Rwanda, Türkiye and Uruguay.
In 2021, BPJS Kesehatan received the highest award in the Asia-Pacific region. The agency has also brought home three awards: 3 certificates of merit with special mention, 11 awards for certificate of merit, and 3 attestations awards. BPJS Kesehatan’s tech-based innovations also earned two awards at the 2023 Asian Technology Excellence Awards. Mundiharno attributed its success to the agency’s commitment to innovations by embracing technology. According to Mundiharno, a reliable information system will have a direct impact on the quality of the services, claim management system, and many more.
“We will have over 300 participants from 71 countries, who all have their own experience of using technology in social security,” Mundiharno said.
On the sidelines of the conference, BPJS Kesehatan will have bilateral meetings with its counterparts from other countries. Mundiharno added: “Hopefully, BPJS Kesehatan will gain benefits from the knowledge sharing that we can try to implement to improve the JKN services.”
