Astra Strengthens Social Solidarity Through 'Sacrifice for the Nation' Program
Jakarta. Astra, through Yayasan Astra, has once again distributed sacrificial animals to communities across Indonesia for Eid al-Adha 1447 H/2026. This year’s program carries the theme ‘Kurban untuk Penjuru Negeri’ (Sacrifice for the Nation) as part of Astra’s commitment to ensuring a more equitable distribution of sacrificial donations across the country.
Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Amaliah Astra which focuses on supporting religious and social initiatives, together with companies under the Astra Group, distributed 3,197 sacrificial animals across 29 provinces. The program involved participation from the entire Astra Group ecosystem and was symbolically handed over by Astra representatives to North Jakarta Deputy Mayor Fredy Setiawan at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Monday.
The initiative forms part of Astra’s efforts to spread the spirit and joy of Eid al-Adha to communities in need across Indonesia.
“Through the spirit of ‘Kurban untuk Penjuru Negeri,’ Yayasan Astra - Yayasan Amaliah Astra seek to deliver the broader benefits of Eid al-Adha, not only by distributing sacrificial animals to regions in need, but also by strengthening the values of compassion, mutual cooperation, and empowerment of local farmers. We believe that kurban is not merely an annual religious ritual, but also a collective effort to spread happiness, strengthen solidarity, and create meaningful impact across Indonesia,” said Boy Kelana Soebroto, Chairman of Yayasan Astra – Yayasan Amaliah Astra.
The procurement of sacrificial animals was carried out in collaboration with local farmers in various regions. The initiative is expected to create sustainable economic impact by improving the welfare of small-scale farmers, strengthening local businesses, and encouraging economic self-reliance within communities.
In implementing the program, Yayasan Amaliah Astra also sought to ensure responsible sacrificial management through a distribution process that pays greater attention to environmental aspects, including encouraging the use of more environmentally friendly packaging to reduce single-use plastic waste. The commitment reflects the foundation’s broader effort to align social contributions with environmental awareness.
Additionally, the entire sacrificial process, from slaughtering and handling to distribution, was carried out with careful attention to Islamic principles, health standards, and prevailing regulations. The distribution of sacrificial animals and meat has been conducted in parallel across multiple regions in Indonesia since May 24, 2026, allowing the benefits to reach wider communities throughout the country.
Through the spirit of mutual cooperation and Astra’s philosophy of “Prosper with the Nation,” Astra and Yayasan Amaliah Astra hope the ‘Kurban untuk Penjuru Negeri’ program will not only bring joy during Eid al-Adha, but also strengthen the values of compassion, togetherness, and social contribution for communities across Indonesia.
