Jakarta. Astra recently took part at the 2024 Young on Top National Conference (YOTNC) in Jakarta.

Astra joined one of the inspiring talk sessions themed 15th SATU Indonesia Awards 2024 Education Redefined: Strategies for Success. Joining as speakers were education enthusiast Maudy Ayunda, 2021 SATU Indonesia Awards awardee I Gede Andika Wira Teja, and Astra’s brand communications head Yudha Prasetya.

Education is one of the pillars in a sustainable social contribution program from Astra, namely the Astra for a Smart Indonesia pillar. The company has vowed to help the government improve Indonesia’s human capital, while also supporting the sustainable development goal (SDG) of quality education. Under this program, Astra focuses on improving the quality of schools (training teachers, curriculum development, and life skills development), providing scholarships, and providing donations of educational facilities and infrastructure, especially for schools in around Astra Group installations and other underprivileged areas. Education is also one of the five fields included in Astra’s SATU Indonesia Awards.

"Astra hopes that the SATU Indonesia Awards can encourage more Indonesian youth to help the people around them while also supporting sustainability that is in line with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects for today and Indonesia's future," Astra’s chief of corporate affairs Riza Deliansyah was quoted as saying in a press statement.

The speakers shared their ideas and how they have contributed to the country in the education field.

“The most important thing that today's young generation should take note of is how we can be independent learners. We don’t only learn at schools, but we also learn from the things that we encounter every day. This is also a learning process,” Maudy said.

I Gede Andika Wira Teja, who won a Satu Award in the education category, said he had established a learning facility for children in Pemuteran Village in Bali.

“I have combined education and environment. We ask the children to bring plastic waste that they can exchange for rice, which we distribute to the underprivileged elderly people,” he said.

Astra invites the nation's inspiring young generation to take part in the SATU program Indonesia Awards. The winners will receive Rp 65 million to support their activities. They will also earn the opportunity to work with Kampung Berseri Astra or Desa Sejahtera Astra. Registration is now open until Aug. 4. Visit www.astra.co.id to sign up.

Cenderamata Astra also launched souvenirs in partnership with local fashion brand Bluesville, which is known for using eco-friendly natural dyes that align with the company’s sustainability spirit.

Since 2019, Cenderamata Astra has collaborated with many local brands such as Voyej, Hirka, For the Earth, IKAT Indonesia, and DAMN! I Love Indonesia, One Fine Sky, Woodka, Du Anyam, JUARAGA, Woodka, Du Anyam, Newhun, Telusur Kultur and Semilir.
