Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association, or PSSI, began to sell tickets for the friendly match against world champion Argentina on Monday when all 20,000 available tickets were sold out.

Another 20,000 tickets are available online on Tuesday at the price of between Rp 600,000 and Rp 4,250,000 ($286) and are expected to sell fast too.

"The ticket for the Argentina match is cheaper in Indonesia than in China. During the first day, 20,000 tickets were sold out in nine minutes,” PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said.

But Monday’s ticket sales were exclusively intended for the customers of state bank BRI, one of the main sponsors for the much-awaited match.

Tickets for all football fans can be purchased via online ticketing platforms on the PSSI official website and Tiket.com on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at noon.

The ticketing system was overcrowded by incoming requests even when buyers were limited to BRI customers only on Monday.

A football fan who introduced himself as Rachmat said he tried desperately to buy a ticket for himself and got frustrated by the repeated ‘try again’ message whenever he attempted to log in to the system.

By the time he successfully entered the system minutes later, he received a notification that tickets were sold out for that day.

Demands for the match at Jakarta’s Bung Karno Stadium on June 19 have been soaring after the Argentina squad included football superstar Lionel Messi in the tentative line-up.
