Jakarta. Jakarta governor hopeful Pramono Anung was among the politicians who came to President-Elect Prabowo Subianto’s Kertanegara residence on Tuesday, sparking speculations that the former would join the latter's cabinet.

Pramono, however, remained tight-lipped about the contents of his meeting with Indonesia’s incoming leader.

Prabowo summoned dozens of ministerial and deputy ministerial candidates to his Kertanegara home on Tuesday. This round of in-person interviews was also meant for potential government institution heads. Prabowo had already called 49 politicians and experts to Kertanegara the day before.

Pramono arrived at Kertanegara at around 1.43 p.m.

Beritasatu.com reported that Pramono spent about an hour at the president-elect’s home. Pramono refused to give any comment about the meeting with Prabowo. He also immediately rushed to his car without giving any media statement. Aside from Pramono, Prabowo had summoned Gelora Party chairman Anis Matta and Communications Vice Minister Angga Raka, among others.

Pramono was the former cabinet secretary under the outgoing President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, but he decided to step down to focus on the Jakarta gubernatorial bid. Pramono faces Ex West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and independent candidate Dharma Pongrekun. Pramono got backed by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) for the Jakarta election. His rival Ridwan Kamil got endorsed by a giant coalition of parties, including Prabowo’s Gerindra Party.

Pramono is a PDI-P politician. PDI-P chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri and Prabowo are reportedly planning to meet before the latter gets inaugurated. This meeting will likely reveal the final stance that PDI-P will take in the future government. PDI-P previously nominated Ex Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo in the February presidential election.
