Pramono Anung on Jakarta Gubernatorial Bid: ‘I Didn’t Expect It’
Jakarta. Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Pramono Anung says he was surprised at being nominated by PDI-P Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri to run in the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. Pramono revealed that he had never anticipated nor requested the nomination, but now that it is an official decision, he is committed to carrying out the responsibility.
"I didn't expect it, didn't ask for it, and never hoped for it, but now that it has been decided, I will work earnestly and strive hard to fulfill this mandate," Pramono said in a social media post on his account, @pramonoanungw, on Wednesday.
Pramono also urged his supporters to wear white when he and Rano Karno register at the Jakarta Election Commission (KPU) on Tuesday, with registration scheduled for around 11:00 a.m. Jakarta time.
PDI-P has officially endorsed Pramono Anung and Rano Karno as candidates in the 2024 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.
