Jakarta. President-elect Prabowo Subianto is not expected to implement significant changes in the cabinet structure, as his primary focus is on maintaining policy continuity from the Joko "Jokowi" Widodo government, according to a supporter group on Thursday.

This perspective was shared by a group known as Pro-Jokowi or Projo, which backed Prabowo’s presidential candidacy and rallied former Jokowi supporters to his cause.

Prabowo is less than six months away from succeeding President Jokowi, whose son Gibran Rakabuming Raka became his running mate. The pair of Prabowo and Gibran won the Feb. 14 election with 58 percent of the vote, with analysts attributing their election success to implicit support from the incumbent president.

Panel Barus, representing Projo, said any changes in the cabinet nomenclature would likely be minimal.

"The cabinet structure will barely change because the main issue here is about continuity to safeguard the progress Indonesia has made so far. Without continuity, we risk setbacks and the need to start anew," Panel explained in an interview with BTV network.

Panel further noted that Prabowo might introduce one or two new ministries to accommodate his proposed initiatives, such as providing free meals for school-age children and promoting downstream industries to discourage the export of raw mineral ores. However, he clarified that the overall cabinet structure would remain largely intact.

While acknowledging that the authority for a cabinet reshuffle lies solely with the president, Panel expressed confidence that Prabowo would make informed decisions within the available time frame.

Previous reports said Prabowo is considering separating the taxation directorate general from the Finance Ministry and making it a new ministry.
