Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto appointed four new deputy ministers and replaced the head of Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) on Thursday, as the agency faces a corruption investigation that has implicated the outgoing chief's younger brother.

Seven officials were sworn in at the State Palace in the eighth cabinet reshuffle during Prabowo's two years in office.

Among the most prominent appointments was Lt. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi, previously commander of the Indonesian Military's XXI/Radin Inten Regional Military Command, who replaced Suharyanto as head of BNPB.

The leadership change came a day after the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named five suspects in an investigation into alleged corruption involving emergency disaster relief funds and procurement at the agency.

One of the suspects is Bima Setyawan, the younger brother of Suharyanto.

KPK investigators have alleged that emergency disaster funds were improperly managed or diverted through arrangements involving agency officials and private-sector contractors.

The commission has also reported seizing approximately Rp 3.3 billion in cash, along with gold and cryptocurrency assets, during its investigation.

Suharyanto has not been named as a suspect in the information released about the case, and authorities have not confirmed whether his replacement was directly related to the investigation.

Four New Deputy Ministers
Prabowo also appointed four deputy ministers, including two officials assigned to separate portfolios within the Defense Ministry.

Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari was named deputy defense minister for logistics, defense industry and technology.

Gen. Richard Tampubolon, previously chief of general staff of the Indonesian Military (TNI), was appointed deputy defense minister for strategy, doctrine and force development.

The president also appointed Alim Setiawan Slamet as deputy agriculture minister and Maulana Bungaran as deputy minister of immigration and corrections.

New Leadership at Peatland and Mangrove Agency
Two other appointments involved the National Peatland and Mangrove Management Agency (BPGMN).

Setyawan Pudyatmoko was appointed head of the agency, while Maj. Gen. Sriyanto was named deputy head.

The seven appointments comprised four deputy ministers, a new BNPB chief, and two senior officials at the peatland and mangrove agency.
