Magnitude 5.2 Quake Strikes South Aceh, No Tsunami Warning Issued

Jakarta. A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck South Aceh on Friday evening, with no tsunami warning issued following the tremor.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the earthquake occurred at around 7:45 p.m. local time, with its epicenter located approximately 15 kilometers southeast of South Aceh at a depth of 11 kilometers.

The agency pinpointed the quake’s coordinates at 3.15 degrees north latitude and 97.26 degrees east longitude.

“Please remain cautious of potential aftershocks that may occur,” BMKG said in a statement on its official website.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake as of Friday night.
