Jakarta Waives Late Penalties for Vehicle Tax Payments Until Year-End
Jakarta. The Jakarta Provincial Government is waiving administrative penalties for late vehicle tax payments starting November 10 through December 31, 2025, in a move to ease the burden on residents and encourage better tax compliance.
The policy, issued under the Jakarta Revenue Authority (Bapenda) Decree No. e-0104/2025, covers both Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB), applicable at all Samsat offices across the capital.
Jakarta Revenue Authority Head Lusiana Herawati said the program was launched under the Governor’s directive to help residents while improving tax awareness and administrative discipline.
“This is our way of helping the public while encouraging better compliance and orderly vehicle tax administration in Jakarta,” Lusiana said on Sunday.
The waiver applies automatically through the city’s tax management system, meaning taxpayers only need to settle the principal amount without submitting any request or paying late penalties.
“The administrative sanction being waived is the fine resulting from late tax payments. Taxpayers just need to pay the principal,” she added.
Officials said the measure also aims to boost local tax collection and provide an economic stimulus ahead of year-end. The city hopes the initiative will improve compliance, streamline the process, and ensure greater transparency.
To make payments easier, taxpayers can use the SIGNAL mobile app without visiting Samsat offices.
“We want the people to feel supported. Every rupiah of local tax goes back into development and public welfare,” Lusiana said.
