Singapore. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has invited Singaporean investors to participate in the expansion of the Indonesian capital’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network and other major urban development projects during a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Pramono said Singapore has opportunities to invest in a range of projects in Jakarta, including transit-oriented development (TOD) initiatives, the development of MRT Jakarta Phase 3 and Phase 4, and various urban transformation programs aimed at strengthening Jakarta’s position as a global city.

Transit-oriented development refers to the construction of residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties around public transportation hubs such as railway stations and bus terminals.

“Investing in Jakarta today means gaining access to one of Southeast Asia’s largest markets,” Pramono said. “Investment flows into Jakarta will contribute to Indonesia’s growth, strengthen the ASEAN economy, and create added value for regional partners, including Singapore.”

In addition to promoting investment opportunities in transportation infrastructure and urban development, Pramono reaffirmed the Jakarta administration’s commitment to maintaining a business environment that is transparent, efficient, predictable, and investor-friendly.

He said policy certainty remains a key factor in building investor confidence.

“We want Singaporean businesses to know that Jakarta is committed to making investment easier through clear regulations, efficient processes, and consistent policies,” Pramono said. “I believe the trust and collaboration we strengthen today will lead to shared success in the future.”

During his meeting with Wong, Pramono highlighted his extensive experience in government, saying it provides a strong foundation for effective communication with strategic partners, including Singapore.

The meeting also reinforced a longstanding relationship between Pramono and Wong that dates back to their respective roles in the national government. At the time, Pramono served as Cabinet Secretary of Indonesia, while Wong held several senior positions within the Singapore government.

The discussions reflected the close economic ties between Jakarta and Singapore, which remains one of Indonesia’s largest sources of foreign investment.
