Energy Ministry Opens 108 Positions to Monitor Subsidized Fuel Distribution
Jakarta. The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) has opened 108 positions for young Indonesians to help monitor the distribution of subsidized and assignment-based fuel under its energy monitor, or what we locally called Pengawal Energi program, which targets 3,679 gas stations nationwide.
The program is being implemented in collaboration with the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) and the Akamigas Polytechnic of Energy and Minerals (PEM Akamigas), offering young people an opportunity to contribute to public oversight of fuel distribution.
M. Pradana Indraputra, special advisor to the energy minister for accelerating the resolution of strategic issues and chairman of the committee for the 81st Mining and Energy Anniversary in 2026, said the program was not merely an opportunity to gain work experience but also a platform for young people to contribute to the public interest.
“Youngsters do not have to wait until they become leaders to contribute to Indonesia. They can start by verifying facts, working professionally and carrying out their duties with integrity. Through this program, we want to encourage the emergence of local heroes -- young talents who not only grow and develop in their regions but also care about helping safeguard energy distribution in their communities. We hope this spirit of service at the local level will grow into a tangible contribution to Indonesia,” he said.
The program offers 100 field verifier positions and eight analyst positions. Participants will support field verification, data collection and analysis, and the reporting of findings for follow-up by the relevant authorities.
The program prioritizes local talent based on participants’ domicile and assignment requirements, aiming to recruit young people who understand local conditions and can help ensure energy reaches their communities. However, participants must also be willing to work in other parts of Indonesia according to the program’s needs, reflecting a broader commitment to national service.
Assignments are planned to run for one year under individual service agreements. Field verifiers will receive a monthly honorarium of Rp 6.5 million, while analysts will receive Rp 5.7 million. Participants will also receive operational support incentives, BPJS social security incentives, as well as training and certification in accordance with the program’s provisions.
“Strong oversight requires accurate data and public trust. Public participation must be built as a partnership with the government, not as a confrontation. We hope Pengawal Energi can help provide objective facts from the field and strengthen collective efforts to ensure energy distribution becomes more transparent and better targeted,” Pradana added.
Applications for the Pengawal Energi program are open from Oct. 23 to Nov. 1, 2026, through the official PEM Akamigas portal at https://pengawalenergi.akamigas.ac.id/
