Jakarta. The Jakarta administration had spent Rp 40.4 trillion ($2.2 billion), or just 54.39% of its 2026 regional budget, as of Sept. 30, raising concerns about a potential spending rush in the final quarter of the year.

The city also collected Rp 44.98 trillion in revenue during the first nine months of 2026, equivalent to 62.95% of its full-year target of Rp 71.45 trillion, according to figures released by Governor Pramono Anung on Wednesday.

The relatively low spending rate could put pressure on government agencies to accelerate budget disbursement toward the end of the year, potentially leading to a backlog of activities.

“I have specifically asked regional agencies to complete their activities promptly so that they do not pile up at the end of the year,” Pramono told reporters at City Hall.

He stressed that preparations for government programs should begin as soon as budgets are approved, rather than being delayed until the final months of the fiscal year.

Pramono said the tendency to rush spending and program implementation toward year-end was a practice that needed to be addressed at both the central and regional government levels.

Meanwhile, Jakarta's economy expanded by 5.52% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, outpacing the national growth rate of 5.29% over the same period, according to government data.

However, the capital's economic growth slowed slightly from 5.59% in the first quarter.

Trade was the largest contributor to Jakarta's economy in the second quarter, accounting for 18.24%, followed by financial services at 11.16% and construction at 10.84%.
