Indonesia Delivers 221,000 Subsidized Homes, Prabowo to Inaugurate 25,000 More
Jakarta. Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar "Ara" Sirait said Indonesia’s subsidized housing program has delivered 175,662 units to beneficiaries as of Sept. 15. Another 45,000 units are under construction, in credit approval, or in financing agreements, bringing the total to 221,047 units this year.
Ara said President Prabowo Subianto will inaugurate an additional 25,000 subsidized houses on Sept.29 in Bogor, West Java. The ceremony will be held simultaneously across more than 80 locations in over 30 provinces.
“The President is very committed to this program. That’s why the quota for subsidized housing this year rose sharply from 220,000 to 350,000 units,” Ara said after meeting the president at the State Palace on Monday.
Starting next month, state-owned banks will begin disbursing microloans dedicated to boosting homeownership. This scheme is worth a total of Rp 130 trillion, meant to be disbursed for the remainder of the year. Around Rp 117 trillion will go toward contractors, developers, and building material suppliers, while Rp 13 trillion will be allocated for homestay businesses and SMEs in sectors like culinary and fashion.Borrowers will benefit from subsidized interest rates, with loans capped at 6 percent. The program is expected to roll out in early October.
Looking ahead, the government also plans to renovate 400,000 homes in 2026 under the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) program, up significantly from 45,000 units this year.
