Governor Pramono Ends Remote Work Rule, Says Jakarta Back to Normal
Jakarta. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has revoked the work-from-home (WFH) policy instruction for civil servants within the Jakarta Provincial Government.
According to Pramono, the capital city has returned to normal conditions, allowing provincial employees to resume working from the office.
“I have instructed the relevant agency heads to revoke the WFH policy. I see that public conditions have returned to normal and all transportation services are operating as usual,” he said on Wednesday.
In addition, employees of the Jakarta Provincial Government are also required to use public transportation every Wednesday, in accordance with Governor’s Instruction No. 6 of 2025. The Jakarta Government has also provided a special fare of Rp 1 for Transjakarta and MRT rides until Sept. 8.
Previously, on Aug. 28, the Jakarta Provincial Government issued a WFH policy following large-scale demonstrations in Jakarta.
Jakarta Provincial employees working from home were required to record online attendance twice a day, in the morning and afternoon. However, the WFH policy excluded employees from regional agencies providing direct public services. With Jakarta’s situation now conducive again, Pramono instructed all agencies to immediately adjust and return to full in-office work.
Pramono is still implementing remote learning at 2,829 schools across various education levels in Jakarta Province. According to him, this policy is temporary and situational. An evaluation will be carried out based on developments in the field.
