Indonesians Post ‘Unboxing’ Clips of Eid Hampers from Prabowo
Jakarta. Social media platforms were flooded with videos and photos on Sunday showing Indonesians unboxing Eid al-Fitr gift packages received during the presidential open house hosted by President Prabowo Subianto at the State Palace.
The posts emerged a day after Prabowo opened the palace gates to the public to celebrate the holiday, allowing visitors to meet the president and join the festivities.
The hampers contained a variety of items, including staple foods such as rice, flour, sugar, tea, coffee, and biscuits, along with cash.
“I was really excited because I came to the palace open house just hoping to meet President Prabowo, but I ended up going home with a hamper,” said TikTok user Shella Kevin in one widely shared video.
In addition to food, visitors also received souvenirs, including red folding umbrellas and tumblers bearing the official logo of the presidential office. Another attendee, Maysa, said she was surprised to receive the additional gifts.
“I only intended to meet the president, I didn’t expect to receive a gift package as well,” she wrote.
Other posts showed recipients receiving two Rp 100,000 banknotes along with ready-to-eat meals, including fried chicken and drinks.
