Prabowo Says Danantara Assets Reach $1 Trillion, Among World’s Largest Sovereign Funds
Nganjuk, East Java. President Prabowo Subianto said on Saturday that Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara now manages assets worth $1 trillion, placing it among the world’s largest state investment institutions.
Prabowo made the remarks while symbolically launching more than 1,000 rural cooperatives during an event in Nganjuk Regency, East Java.
“The assets we manage now total $1 trillion. Danantara is even larger than [similar institutions] in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore,” Prabowo said.
He noted that the milestone had been achieved despite Danantara only being established in February 2025, making it far younger than Abu Dhabi’s sovereign wealth fund, founded in 1976, and China Investment Corporation, which was formed in 1997.
Prabowo said the rapid growth reflected Indonesia’s long-term economic potential, while urging the public not to judge the fund’s performance too quickly.
“You will later see what we are building this year. Don’t judge it now -- judge what we are creating 20 years from today,” he said.
Danantara currently manages assets from thousands of Indonesian state-owned enterprises and has invested in strategic sectors including renewable energy, food security, healthcare, and the digital economy.
The fund is led by Rosan Roeslani, who also serves as Indonesia’s investment minister.
