Jakarta Pitches 37 Projects Worth $7 Billion to Global Investors
New York. The Jakarta administration is offering 37 urban development projects with a combined potential investment value of $7 billion as Indonesia's capital seeks international partners to finance infrastructure and strengthen its position as a global city.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung presented the investment opportunities at the 2026 Urban 20 (U20) Mayors Summit in New York, where city leaders are gathering to discuss housing, climate resilience, migration and other urban challenges.
“Jakarta is ready to open investment opportunities through 37 urban development projects with a potential investment value of $7 billion,” Pramono said over the weekend.
“We invite city partners, businesses and global partners not only to invest in Jakarta, but also to work together in building the future of our city.”
The projects have previously been presented by the Jakarta administration as “ready-to-offer” investment opportunities with an indicative combined value of approximately Rp 115 trillion.
They are being promoted alongside the development of 13 priority areas across Jakarta, including Ancol-Jakarta International Stadium, Blok M-ASEAN Secretariat, Kota Tua-Harmoni, Cawang Hub, Dukuh Atas, Monas, Cikini, Grogol-Petamburan, the Thousand Islands and Jakarta's coastal areas.
Pramono also used the U20 gathering to highlight Jakarta's economic performance to other city leaders.
“Amid a world facing various economic challenges, Jakarta continues to record strong economic growth,” he said.
“In the second quarter of this year, Jakarta's economy grew 5.52%, while inflation remained low at 2.5%. This stability has helped attract $10.5 billion in investment to Jakarta in just six months.”
Official Jakarta government data put realized investment at Rp 173.6 trillion in the first half of 2026, accounting for 17.2% of Indonesia's total investment during the period.
The administration is seeking to use the investment pipeline and international partnerships to support Jakarta's transition into a global city following the development of Nusantara as Indonesia's new capital.
Jakarta, New York Explore Cooperation
The U20 Mayors Summit runs from Sept. 19–21 and brings together mayors and other senior officials representing 34 cities.
New York and Los Angeles are co-chairing this year's summit, which is convened by C40 Cities and United Cities and Local Governments as a G20 engagement group representing the interests of major cities.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani opened the gathering with three major themes: affordable housing and homelessness; climate action, sustainability and urban resilience; and the protection of immigrant communities and human mobility.
Pramono also held bilateral talks with Mamdani during his New York visit to explore direct cooperation between the two cities.
Areas identified for potential collaboration include public transportation, clean air, water management, coastal resilience, waste management and food affordability.
The Jakarta administration has said it wants international partnerships forged through the U20 to translate into practical programs that improve public services and residents' quality of life.
