Jakarta. Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto said he would dedicate his life to serving the Indonesian people.

Speaking to his supporters, Prabowo, who used to be in the military, said that he had vowed to serve this country since a young age.

“Let me be honest. I almost died many times, and I often thought I would not be able to go on,” Prabowo told the Bakti untuk Rakyat community in Jakarta earlier this week.

“But God has saved me many times. And I shall fight for the Indonesian people for the rest of my life,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo also vowed to eliminate poverty in Indonesia -- something that he considered possible considering Indonesia's natural resource abundance. For this reason, Prabowo is planning to carry on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s domestic processing policy should he win the election. In other words, Indonesia shall process its natural resources at home for more added value.

“I want us to be able to manage our natural resources so that its profits can be enjoyed by all Indonesian people,” Prabowo said.
