Jakarta. Prabowo Subianto recently asked for support for his presidential bid as the Feb. 14 election nears.

Prabowo earlier this week met with tens of thousands of North Sulawesi residents in the Schwarz grounds, Langowan. Prabowo told the crowd that Indonesia is a democratic country, and every person has the right to vote regardless of their background.

“We are a democratic country. By democracy, this means that power and sovereignty are in the hands of the Indonesian people. Democracy means people’s sovereignty, one person has one vote,” Prabowo said.

“In the upcoming election, there is no rich and poor. There is no military general and ride-hailing driver. There is no professor or farmer. One person, one vote,” Prabowo said.

He also said that the votes would determine Indonesia’s future for the next 5 years.

“That is why you must come to the voting stations,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo also asked for North Sulawesi community’s prayers.

“I, Prabowo Subianto, half of my blood is Minahasa blood. My mother was born and raised in Langowan,” Prabowo said.

Minahasa holds a special place for Prabowo. This is where his family --particularly from his mother’s side Dora Marie Sigar-- came from.
