Denpasar. Pertamina Patra Niaga, the fuel distribution arm of state energy company Pertamina, has scheduled shipments totaling 57.9 million liters of gasoline to Bali through Oct. 17 as it steps up efforts to resolve a fuel shortage that has caused long queues at gas stations across the tourist island.

The shipments comprise 44.9 million liters of Pertalite gasoline and 13 million liters of higher-octane Pertamax, company spokeswoman Kitty Andhora said Wednesday.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga is making every effort to accelerate the restoration of fuel services in Bali by strengthening supplies, extending gas station operating hours, deploying additional personnel and optimizing our distribution fleet," Kitty said in a statement.

Pertamina's latest shipment schedule is intended to further replenish fuel stocks and support the gradual restoration of normal services across Bali.

Fuel tankers are scheduled to arrive in stages between Oct. 14 and 17, with deliveries routed through the Manggis and Pesanggaran fuel terminals in Bali.

The company is also expanding round-the-clock refueling services, with 60 gas stations in Denpasar operating 24 hours a day to give motorists greater access to fuel and reduce waiting times.

Additional personnel, including reserve fuel truck drivers, have been deployed to support distribution operations and prevent delays in deliveries to gas stations.

Pertamina Patra Niaga has also brought in fuel trucks from Banyuwangi, East Java, to reinforce Bali's distribution fleet until supply conditions return to normal.

The measures follow several days of fuel shortages that have disrupted motorists and caused long queues at gas stations across parts of the island.

On Tuesday, Pertamina and the Bali provincial government announced the arrival of two tankers carrying a combined 21.7 million liters of gasoline, comprising 19.2 million liters of Pertalite and 2.5 million liters of Pertamax.

Bali Governor I Wayan Koster also announced emergency distribution measures, including extended gas station operating hours and additional fuel delivery trucks, to accelerate the recovery.
