Pertamina Reviews Towing Operators’ Bid for Subsidized Fuel in Surabaya
Surabaya. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is working with the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) to address towing operators’ concerns over access to subsidized fuel following a protest in Surabaya.
The regulator is now evaluating a proposal concerning subsidized fuel allocations for towing trucks and car carriers.
Pertamina Patra Niaga Vice President of Corporate Communications Kitty Andhora said the company was responsible for implementing fuel distribution policies set by the government through BPH Migas, while decisions on the allocation and distribution of subsidized fuel remained under the regulator’s authority.
“We understand and respect the concerns raised by our colleagues in the towing truck business in Surabaya,” Kitty said in a statement Thursday. “These concerns were conveyed and discussed directly with BPH Migas during a meeting on Sept. 30, and are currently under evaluation by BPH Migas.”
The comments came after towing truck operators in Surabaya protested over restrictions on their access to subsidized fuel, which they say is needed to support their operations.
Pertamina said it would comply with any regulations issued by BPH Migas while the evaluation is underway.
“While awaiting the results of this evaluation, we remain committed to maintaining the continuity of public services and ensuring that the public’s energy needs continue to be met effectively in accordance with applicable regulations,” Kitty said.
The company said it would continue coordinating with BPH Migas and other stakeholders to address the operators’ concerns through the appropriate regulatory mechanisms.
Pertamina also urged all parties to ensure that public activities and access to operational facilities remain uninterrupted while the regulatory review continues.
