Jakarta. Wilfrida Soik, an Indonesian migrant worker who escaped the death penalty in Malaysia, said she hoped to meet presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto.

Wilfrida had to face the death penalty in Malaysia for the murder of her employer. She was then freed of the death penalty in 2015. Back then, Prabowo helped hire lawyers to defend Wilfrida in court. Prabowo also went to Malaysia several times to check on Wilfrida’s case.

Wilfrida recently reunited with Prabowo over video conference during an Indonesian Advocate Alliance event in Jakarta on Friday.

“Mr. Prabowo is like an angel. I would never be able to repay back what he has done. All I can do is pray for him. I wish you good health and long life,” Wilfrida told Prabowo.

“And I really hope I can meet you [Mr. Prabowo] again. Thank you very much, sir,” Wilfrida said.

Prabowo said he was happy to have the reunion. He also asked how Wilfrida had been doing over the past years.

“I’m really surprised and happy to see Wilfrida again,” Prabowo said.
