Jakarta. Chandra Asri Pacific (Chandra Asri Group), a leading energy, chemical, infrastructure and mobility solutions provider in Southeast Asia, is partnering with the Indonesian Military’s (TNI) Special Forces Command (Kopassus) task force for the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village (KNMP) program to provide cooler boxes for 200 KNMP facilities in Papua.

The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the government’s strategic programs to promote development and improve public welfare. The cooler boxes are currently in production and will be distributed in stages.

The collaboration supports the national development agenda and President Prabowo Subianto’s strategic programs, particularly efforts to strengthen the fisheries sector, boost economic activity in coastal communities and promote more equitable development in Papua. The facilities are expected to help preserve the freshness of fish catches and support the distribution of fisheries products to coastal communities.

Papua was selected for the initiative to strengthen facilities supporting coastal livelihoods, particularly in fisheries. Through its partnership with the joint KNMP task force in Papua, Chandra Asri Group aims to improve the handling and distribution of fishermen’s catches while increasing the economic value of fisheries products. The initiative also supports the accelerated implementation of the KNMP program in line with the president’s directives.

Brig. Gen. TNI Sutrisno Pujiono, head of the joint KNMP task force in Papua, said the collaboration demonstrated how businesses and the task force could work together to address community needs, including those of fishermen.

“We hope the provision of these cooler boxes will help support catches and fishing activities in coastal communities. Cross-sector collaboration like this is important to expand the benefits of development and support improvements in public welfare,” Sutrisno said.

Edi Rivai, Chandra Asri Group’s director of legal, external relations and circular economy, said domestic industries had a strategic role to play in national development, not only through their business activities but also by providing solutions that addressed community needs.

“We believe domestic industries have a strategic role in supporting national development, not only through business activities but also by providing solutions that address community needs. Through this initiative, we want to encourage the use of domestic industrial products to support fisheries activities and the coastal economy in Papua.

“This collaboration demonstrates the synergy between industry, the government and the military in supporting national strategic programs and promoting a more equitable distribution of development benefits across Indonesia,” Edi said.

Through this initiative, Chandra Asri Group continues to strengthen its role as a growth partner for Indonesia by providing industrial solutions that support productive sectors and communities. As part of its business transformation, the company remains committed to leveraging its industrial capabilities to create added value, strengthen value chains in strategic sectors and support sustainable economic grow.
